a CHRISTMAS CAROL VR
A Classic Reimagined in Revolutionary VR
Experience Dickens' timeless classic like never before in this groundbreaking VR adaptation, where live actors seamlessly embody multiple roles, shifting perspectives between Scrooge, Dickens, and the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Featuring full-body motion capture and real-time theatrical storytelling, this production invites you into a richly detailed virtual world where every scene unfolds live before your eyes.
How It Works
The Raindance production of A Christmas Carol VR is powered by a custom-built performance pipeline in Unreal Engine 5, designed for real-time delivery on Meta Quest headsets. Actors perform as high-fidelity Metahumans using the Meta Movement SDK for body tracking and the facial tracking capabilities of the Meta Quest Pro. A proprietary avatar control system allows seamless switching between multiple characters, as well as dynamic toggling between third-person and first-person perspectives—enabling performers to monitor their own performance or make virtual eye contact with scene partners as needed. A fully integrated stage management console provides cueing for media, scene transitions, lighting, and animation, replicating the functionality of a traditional booth in a virtual environment.
