Reality Is the Anomaly

Geppaku Lui is a subject afflicted with “Lost Children,” a condition that renders her perceptible only through digital devices. During a monitored singing session at the Hakoniwa research facility, multiple staff members report an anomaly: they claim to have seen her directly, without any device.

In response, the institution reconstructs her performance and the Hakoniwa environment within VR, distributing it as recorded data for observational analysis. Viewers who access the archive are implicitly incorporated into the experiment, their perception treated as part of the data set.

Project [ latent ] // archive_ presents this reconstructed record as a supplementary log for post-event analysis. Positioned as observers, the audience engages in an act of witnessing that probes the boundary between mediated and unmediated existence, where perception itself becomes both subject and instrument of investigation.
