What if realising your vision in VR didn't have to be blocked by years of engineering?

Basis was created for you. VR is notoriously difficult to develop for, and it can be hard to keep the creative spark by the time your software is ready to deliver on your vision.

In this talk, join industry veterans, Ån, Yewnyx and Luke Dooly, as they demo their batteries-included framework called Basis, a robust set of tools ready for you to build immersive and networked apps, games, or experiences.

Luke Dooly is the creator of the Basis Framework and a VR industry professional with past experience building Last Epoch, Labrythine, Blacktop Hoops, and multiple other unreleased projects. His mission is to put VR into every creator's toolset, helping people of all levels of engagement - artists, developers, and designers - build their vision.

Yewnyx has a long history of foundational work in applications and VR. He built core pieces of the Crunchyroll, Reddit, and Facebook mobile apps, worked on the Quest OS at Oculus, and implemented several core game systems in the hit VR title BONELAB from Stress Level Zero.

Dr. Andrew Sempere aka Ån, is a designer, researcher and artist who grew up in text-based virtual worlds on the early internet. Ån holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from SAIC Chicago, A Masters in Epistemology and Learning from the MIT Media Lab and a PhD in Architecture from EPFL, Switzerland. Ån has taught internationally on art and technology, digital humanities, digital scenography and new technologies for stage performance. Ån was previously a Design Researcher for IBM’s Collaborative User Experience group, the lead of Systems Design for immersive social platform VRChat, co founder of extended-reality immersive performance studio Toasterlab and currently principal of Feral Research LLC.
