This session explores her unique creative process—from the technical nuances of full-body tracking to the artistic challenges of teaching choreography in VRChat to students around the world.

Join Raindance Immersive Curator, Fangs, in conversation with DustBunny to unpack the evolution of dance within social VR. Together, they will dive into the challenges of synchronising performances across varying latencies, leveraging custom avatars to amplify expression, and producing high-caliber live shows.

As one of only five teams selected by Raindance to reimagine the global Ecstatic Dance movement for social VR, Dust Bunny will also introduce Love is the Groove the team’s creative take on 'Ecstatic Raindance'—an exhilarating new theme for the 2026 Raindance Immersive festival.

DustBunny is a VR dance instructor, performer, and founder of the VR Dance Academy within VRChat. With over 20 years of experience beginning in Belly Dance and expanding into Ballroom, Hip Hop, Hula, Bollywood, Yoga, Pilates, and more, DustBunny has become a recognized pioneer in virtual dance education and performance. Since entering VRChat in 2018, she has worked to push the boundaries of dance and movement in virtual spaces while building a welcoming international community for students of all skill levels. Her immersive VR production, Shadow Canyon: A Puppeteer’s Tale, received the Spirit of Raindance Award at Raindance Immersive. DustBunny has also appeared in the HBO documentary We Met In Virtual Reality and Netflix’s Fatherhood with My Father, helping introduce wider audiences to the world of VR dance and the community.

Mary Lee Desmond (aka FangsVR) is a filmmaker, music producer, and Curator at Raindance Immersive whose work centres on VR‑native cinema and virtual performances. They have worked in film and music studios since 2007 and serve as an AV Video Lead outside their VR practice, bringing deep experience in live performance and multimedia production to their immersive work.

In VRChat, they direct and produce real‑time films and performances, including SCOUT, winner of the Official VRChat Space Jam 2026 film competition, and compose original scores for immersive projects such as A Key to Cadence, a winner of the Official VRChat Film Jam 2025. Their background in film production, music, and live event operations informs a hybrid creative‑technical approach to Raindance’s programming, where they champion independent creators and the evolving language of immersive film and live performance.
