In this intimate session, Raindance Immersive Curator Mary Lee Desmond (aka Fangs) sits down with Starheart—the multi-talented musician, composer, vocalist, pianist, VTuber, and Raindance Immersive 2024 Best Music Video winner for I Still Love You—to explore her groundbreaking journey.
Having performed for thousands of fans in VRChat, Starheart has truly mastered the virtual stage. Discover the behind-the-scenes artistry of her craft, from the fusion of live vocals and avatar performance to the intricate stagecraft that defines her unforgettable live shows and music videos.
Starheart is a musician, composer, vocalist, pianist, filmmaker, and VTuber who performs live in VRChat. Self-described as an "astral demon virtual singer," she leverages her virtual platform to produce music videos, stream on Twitch, and perform across a variety of venues. Before VR, she got her start composing music for indie games, but her VR journey began on Halloween of 2022, creating spooky music videos before realising she needed a permanent identity for her work. After developing an avatar, she formally debuted her Starheart persona in 2023, alongside the release of her music video, Elsewhere. Over the next year, Starheart honed her craft making virtual music videos with increasingly complex stories, custom self made environments for filming, and performing dozens of formal shows to live audiences in VR before winning 2024’s Raindance Immersive’s Best Music Video for her noir style music video I Still Love You. Since the fall of 2024, Starheart has been active as a VTuber on the live streaming platform Twitch sharing her music production process, playing games, and sharing her love for the virtual world with her community.
Mary Lee Desmond (aka FangsVR) is a filmmaker, music producer, and Curator at Raindance Immersive whose work centres on VR‑native cinema and virtual performances. They have worked in film and music studios since 2007 and serve as an AV Video Lead outside their VR practice, bringing deep experience in live performance and multimedia production to their immersive work.
In VRChat, they direct and produce real‑time films and performances, including SCOUT, winner of the Official VRChat Space Jam 2026 film competition, and compose original scores for immersive projects such as A Key to Cadence, a winner of the Official VRChat Film Jam 2025. Their background in film production, music, and live event operations informs a hybrid creative‑technical approach to Raindance’s programming, where they champion independent creators and the evolving language of immersive film and live performance.
